Easy tips for healthy living
Biohacking is a buzz word for tips and tricks for a healthier life mind body and spirit. While I believe there are no magic pills I have found there are certain things we can do that get desired results a little faster. So we are going to explore a few of them.
Sprouts in general and more specifically Broccoli Sprouts have been shown to dramatically improve gut health, boost liver function and they are 50-100 percent stronger in nutrients than a mature plant. They are classified by some as a super disease fighting and cancer reducing food. For this protein conscious people they are also rich in amino acids or the build blocks of the body. You can find them at health food stores. I personally started to grow my own because the ones at the store looked a little sickly. I love the Hamama brand because they make it so easy. https://www.hamama.com This is an easy way to get nutrient dense food with very little effort and they pack a powerful punch.
Sitting is the new smoking of this era. Sitting for long periods of time is the number 1 health concern, which I find fascinating. Reasons behind the concern include it weakens the legs and glutes, it increases risks of varicose veins, increases chances for obesity and can be a big contributing factor to lowered immunity.
Easy are the steps to rectify this major health concern. As you may have guessed steps are part of the remedy. Some examples would be:-
*Park farther away from the door when you are out and about.
*Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
*Do walking meetings instead of sitting meetings.
Walk around while talking on the phone
*Stand while reading emails. I even purchased a computer stand that enables me to stand while returning emails on amazon for around $30.00
*Moving helps the body digest fats and sugars that we consume. It doesn’t have to be a big drawn out ordeal. By just adding a few of these bio-hacking tips it greatly increase health and vitality. If we don’t take care of our body where will we live
Hot Water With Honey and Tumeric
Warm water on it’s own first thing in the morning and last thing at night has been show to greatly aid the body in flushing out toxins. Adding honey and turmeric make it a powerful trio in fighting disease and restoring health. The water should be warm and not hot and heating honey about 140 degrees makes in more of a carcinogen. Honey on an empty stomach has been linked to killing cancer cells in the gut. Tumeric is literally everywhere and in so many products now. My personal belief is the best method is fresh of course. This powerful root contains curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful for fighting inflammation. It has been shown to have very strong anti oxidative benefits and help fight against heart disease and Alzheimers. I prepare a glass before I go to bed and upon rising I add a little warm water and put it down the hatch.
The Cold Shoulder
I despise having cold shoulders of any kind so this one was a toughie for me at first but now I love it. Cold showers! The benefits are astounding:-
- Increases circulation because the body has to work harder at keeping you warm which causes a more efficient circulatory system. A Side benefit is it wakes you up
- Increases endorphins by sending electrical impulses to the brain. This jolt also increase alertness, clarity and energy.
- Increases metabolism by activating brown fat.
- Boosts immunity and trigger anti inflammatory norepinephrine release, white and red blood cells and platelet count significantly.
Cold Shower How To
In the beginning just start with a warm and cold water alternation at the end of your shower. Gradually cooling the water from warm to cold for 10-15 seconds at a time for 10 or so times. The body will send crazy messages to the brain but I promise you will be fine and actually thrive.
Next step would be to increase your time until you can stand under the cold water flow up to 1 or 2 minutes
Eventually you will be able to go 4-8 minutes of cold water. Before leaving the shower allow a little warm not hot water to wash over your body.
I listen to music while showering so I play songs that make me want to dance and I dance in the cold water for and entire song. It makes me smile just thinking about it.
I hope these Bio-Hacking activities have given you pause for thought and you will try a few. I would love to hear how it goes.
